I remember back when you could have your rotors turned 4 or 5 times before you had to have them replaced, now it's like you have to replace them on your first brake change. I don't know about you, but I smell a rat here.

Less expense in manufacture, - more frequent replacement (increased profit again). When you buy replacement,- you may not notice any price diffeence in retail price though!

They will tell you less vehicle weight ( as if they weighed much to begin with) which makes quicker acceleration (hp/weight ratio), -and better gas mileage. Hey,- just think how much more mileage you get by making the car about 2 pounds lighter!

If you have a Ford, its probably made from the cheapest parts that will do the job. The Dodge Rams parts are about twice as big as the competitions. Otherwise, I guess its just to make more money.

Less rotating mass. Lower unsprung weight. Lower cost.

dodge man is right with the addition that thinner means better heat dissapation reducing break fade

there making them out of better metal these days,,so there can make them a little thinner..if you,ll notice the pads are a little thicker,,in the end it all balances out good,hope this help,s.

to make less rotating mass makes it easier for you to accelerate, less fuel- better mpg....
