On the plus side it's non-volatile, which means it will keep storing what it's storing without having a power source. If you pull the plug on a computer everything in its memory not saved to disk will disappear forever.

Also it can be contained in a very compact device, such as a keychain fob.

On the minus side it is more expensive to store an equivalent amount of information on flash memory than a cheap medium like a CD-R or a floppy disk. However you don't want to keep a CD-R in your pocket.

The price of flash memory is always coming down.

A newer vesion of it is coming out.. its going to have a faste transfer rate then ever before and max capacity at 8 gigs
