Actually I'm not quite clear about 'psychological processes' here means. It's so subjective and general for me, but I have to answer this to make it an essay and submit it. But, I really don't have any ideas about the psychological processes underlying mnemonics. You have some ideas? Thanks!

That's a really good question that you ask. Computers program variables that get stored. The Human Mind is a computer and goes through a similar process.

When it comes to data retrieval, those Psychological Processes actually kick in the same way. People just aren't aware of it because it's a split second answer.

For example, when you recite numbers such as your Times Tables, our mind created a pathway on how to derive that answer or get from A to B. You may not consciously know what it is, but your mind does.

When your mind retrieves data from memory, it's the same as you being a CEO sitting in your Office and you ask your Receptionist to retrieve a file down from the Accounting Department.

You probably know the steps of how to get from your Office down to Accounting. Maybe you don't. Either way, someone has to walk down to Accounting and fetch that file. That journey the person makes from your Office to Accounting would be the Psychological Process.

When the receptionist who is retrieving the data goes to the Accounting Department, the receptionist has visual cues like the elevator, numbers on the doors, how many hallway corridors to walk through, etc. programmed.

Your mind uses a similar process in fetching data. That's why when it comes to memorizing new data, they suggest you try attaching it to a sight, sound, smell, or something funny that is memorable so that your mind will know where to go to find that data when it's needed.

Most people who don't do that stuff are like individuals who have a messy room. Instead of filing things away in an organized manner or where there's some rhyme or reason, they just throw an object or whatever they tried to memorize in a messy room that will get lost under piles of other junk.

Another way to look at Psychological Processes would be on a Planetary Scale. The Highways and Freeways on Earth are like Physical Neural Pathways of the Planet. The way resources are transported along those routes would be like information or data.

If you were trying to figure out how to get from San Diego (City A) to Los Angeles (City B), that would be the Psychological Process. Your Vehicle would mark whatever stage you're at. All the cities such as Anaheim, Irvine, and Santa Ana are in between San Diego and Los Angeles. Those represent the in-between steps before you reach your destination.

I work with Dream Interpretation and Dream Analysis and use a simlar method in helping people cure their nightmares.

Their nightmares are being triggered by their mind that is drawing on some kind of memory or stored data file. However, since people don't know where that data file is or that source, they continue to have that data file.

In order to cure such an ailment, you have to locate the source. It's like trying to find your cell phone in a messy room. You can hear the phone ringing, but you have to go by sound in order to find it.

When it comes to curing nightmares, you have to trace your steps backward with the Psychological Process in order to find your way back to the source or origin of the Nightmare. When you can identify or pinpoint why you have that problem, you can then work on a solution for curing it.

If you have no clue as to why you're having nightmares on a particular problem, it's really difficult to solve. It's like trying to give someone aspirin just because they have a cough. A cough can mean anything. You have to read the Signs and take readings to be able to classify the symptoms.

When you judge what are good and bad answers, you're using a Psychological Process. You're comparing an answer given to you with previous answers. Your mind is thinking about really good answers that have impressed you and matching it up to the one you're reading to see if it satisfies certain criteria.

Consciously, you may not think about it, but if you were to break down the Psychological Process of how you rate answers, you do have a method. There are certain things you place importance on more than others.

- Grammar and spelling is an issue to you.
- Brevity and being concise is important to you
- Good examples and analogies may score points

That's the process that you go by.

Mnemonics is even used in identifying words. When you hear or read words, you're checking your Vocabulary Database of all the words you've ever heard in your life time and seeing if there are any matching cases.

As soon as you find a matching case, you compare to see what fits. That's a Psychological Process. In terms of Linguistics and what something sounds like, you'll compare that with what you remember with words you've heard during your lifetime.

Your mind goes through a process of breaking down the sounds by transcribing them into letters. Then it matches those letter symbols with other words from the database that have similar letters looking for a match.

The Human Mind is a really fascinating tool that is capable of a lot of spectacular things that most people tend to take for granted. A lot of people never really use their minds or really do some deep thinking. Worse yet, they take drugs or other chemical substances that ruin or dull their minds.
