I guess you could but you should call your doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. You don't want to mess with your health.

It could be stress, environmental or hormonal changes. If your sexually active and this has never happened before, you should call your gyno. Some gyno's are cool and will discuss possibilities with you over the phone based on your history. But I wouldnt worry too much, this has happened to me before. Also, have you switched or missed doses on your birth control cuz that could cause an abnormal period too.

many woman experience irregualr periods. i myself have since i was 13. I have PCOS. which is polycystic ovary syndrome. This is when your ovaries produce cyst and instead of one there can be 10+ on each ovary. symptoms include, weight gain, poor appetite, abnormal hair growth and of course irregularity. you can take hormone pills of other prescripions.

also you may ask your gyn, to give you a pap and check for endometriosis. this is common in many woman and can be helped with medication, but often is not correctable.

I am going to school for a bsn, in nursing and have many experiences with these issues. i have two woman close to myself and including me we all have had ovarian cancer, pcos, endometriosis, and other issues. if you have any questions feel free to reply.

also, i would recommend a daily vitamin and depending ou your age, maybe hormone therapy. i use to have a periond for one month, it would stop then start four days later. so please dont wait for it wo worsen, see a doctor.

My first guess would be stress. Stress can cause your cycles to freak out, so to speak..But if you are sexually active, go to your doctor and get it checked out.

It's actually not very normal but some women have different and unusual patterns when it comes to their cycles.
My suggestion to you is to tell your mom and have her to the doctor. Only a doctor can really tell you what is going on.
