You are quite normal. I asked the urologist this question on a recent visit. She told me that this is natures way of making sure that blood gets to every organ and body part.
If blood does not get in, oxygen does not get delivered and waste products removed. Without this circulation the tissues start to die.

I'm turning 26 in a month and a half and still morning wood is nearly an every morning occurrence, to my wife's chagrin and pleasure.

It is absolutely normal. Besides the morning tumescence you actually routinely have several erections during the night while you are sleeping.

Absolutely pal. Start to get concerned when you don't. You're fine and perfectly sexually dangerous at 6am as you should be. Did you know that masturbating or having sex before you get up in the morning will start your day perfectly? Both yourself and your partner.
