I don't know...I've been through it though. We found out too late that our Norton Antivirus was only active for 3 months and we'd been unprotected from viruses for a whole year. Symantec is faulty paperwork. We tried to buy a patch of virus protection online, and it never worked. We ended up having to buy a Window's specific firewall at the store. It works ok.
Oh, in the mean time, use Ad-Aware SE Personal. Works extremely well. It's free to download. Please Google it.

Nortons, antispyware antivirus systems??. Not surprised as Nortons is the very worse program in the world for antispyware or antivirus. Hope you have not purchased this program.
When you go to remove this problem if you ever decide you will find that you will be left with about 300 plus fragments attached to all your files and hidden all over your system.
I believe they know how bad they are, so when you remove their program from your system, they punish you with 300 plus fragments left attached to files and hiiden all over your system.
Belive me I had experience with Nortons junk an it took me three months to remove all the hidden fragments that caused conflict with my system.
Want a really good antivirus system?
Being a clinical psychiatrist I have a moral and legal obligation to keep my pc 100% clean from all virus/spyware/malware.
I tested every free and purchase antivirus system known. An I found only one that actually works 100%. Never had a virus or spyware in my system in nine years.
Go to, www.filseclab.com and download thier Twister AntiTrojan Virus program. (You will have to pay a small one time fee). You will never have to pay an annual fee for updates, support or new versions. The one time fee is for life. ($29.99) This program is used by the Government of China.
The software company is located in Beijing, China. They have excellent support, frequent large signature updates an as always all new versions are free. No annual fee for anything.
Comes with a real time scanner that really works. Actually I am quite amazed over the nine years how well it works.
Scans memory on startup.
Real time scanning in the background.
Open any webpage with an embedded trojan/spyware or malware and scanner will clean on the spot. An It is really removed from your system.
Download any kind of program from zips, compresed files, software files, music, etc, etc, an if there is a hidden embedded trojan, spyware, malware, this program will stop the download and clean. An will advise you to end the download.
Will even find a virus in the installer wizard, like "Wise Installer". And will stop the installation while it is being installed and clean. Plus this program always will trace back who installed the trojan.
I had a trojan in and wizard installer. Twister caught the trojan and stopped the installation. I wrote the origianl company and told them the wizard installer had an embedded trojan to steal your data. The company now uses thier own installer.
You can't beat this software for a one time purchase fee only. Actually I don't know of any antivirus progam that even comes close to this state of the art technology.
All I can say it is worth the one time fee. Your pc cost alot of money and you don't want it destroyed. Plus your privacy is protected at all times.
There is nothing in it for me to praise this program. I tell it like it is. If it is garbage then I will say so.

It depends on if you have the full version or not?? My Norton works so much better than the macafee junk!! ! Go to www.major geeks .com to keep your virus programs up to date for free!! After the first year unless you do this it is worthless. AS I say mine works Great & I have had no problems with it!!
You can also get a downloader called star downloader that downloads by breaking the download into 4 parts & downloads them all at once!! IT is Great & saves very much time & if by chance you get disconnected it will pick up where it left off unlike other programs!! Bruce

Because norton and mcafee suck!, that is why, they hog cpu memory and slow it down, not to mention not being very good anti-virus software. I would highly recommend Grisoft's AVG anti-virus, it is what the experts and geeks use. They have a free version that works excellent and also the pay version is worth every penny. Run it for free and watch it catch what norton/mcafee miss. Good luck! and tell what you think.... make sure to remove all of Norton from your cpu first before installing AVG.

If a file becomes infected by a trojan antivirus programs are unable to delete a file that is "in use" and can only quarantee the file. You could try restarting the computer in safe mode and then running the antivirus.
You can also try deleting the file using a little trickery. Open the Notepad program. Select File>Open and navigate to the file. Select all files as the file type and when you see the infected file in the file window right click on it and select delete.

hi, perhaps you can try Mcafee to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.
besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:
