This means her fluid levels are too low. (amniotic fluid) When this occurs, labor and even continued pregnancy can be dangerous. The risk for the umbilical cord becoming compressed is high. He will likely induce her labor. Her placental function could be declining.

My water bag 'punctured', instead of 'breaking' at 35 weeks. It was a slow leak, with a few small gushes, so the doctor made it ride it out until I hit 36 weeks when he thought it would be safer to deliver the baby. I was then induced and had my daughter the next day. Your wife's doctor will do what is best for your wife and your baby, so trust him/her. Also, make sure she takes it very easy. Don't let her do any cleaning, errands, or running after any other kids if you have any.

The baby will be born sooner than expected. I suggest that you prepare for a possible emergency Caesarian section delivery since the loss of water means the baby must be delivered ASAP otherwise he/she will not survive now. It's just a few days away, stay with her. Or better yet, have her confined at the hospital now.

Only the ob-gyne can explain the loss of water (actually amniotic fluid). It possible that the amniotic sac is punctured. If such is the case, it's going to be a dry labor.

She is losing amniotic fluid. It is in the womb and that's how the baby survives. Make sure her doctor is monitoring her very closely. If you or your wife feel uncertain at anytime, go to the ER. I've heard of this before, but if she loses too much it can be dangerous for the baby. Good luck!

Did her water break? Or is it something else? Is the doctor saying the baby needs to come out now due to too much loss of water? (IF that's the case don't worry, I have 2 kids both born 25 & 30 days early and they were perfectly healthy.) More details.

Sometimes the water around the baby leaks out slowly. If it is a problem, then the doctor will induce the labor.

If her doctor was really worried about the baby they would induce labor or do a c-section. Since it is already the 7th, the baby is safe to be born now.

Sounds like it is time to induce labor now! Is the doctor concerned? If you are, start asking some questions.

My best friend had that problem with her first daughter. It means that the water the baby is in is leaking.....Keep the doctor informed...I'm sure your wife is in good care. Stay strong for her.

Sounds like he's talking about leaking amniotic fluid. This can be bad because there is risk of a dry birth.
