That kind of sociopathic behavior isn't something these kids will just outgrow. Anyone capable of something that heinous doesn't deserve to ever be a part of society again. I don't care if we kill them or lock them up forever. . . but since no one can really guarantee that they won't get out of prison, let's just go ahead and kill them all. Especially the 40 year old who was involved. How vile can people be?

As for those who think this case would be more serious if the girl died, well, some things are worse than death. I'm sure at times that little girl wished she would have just died. Her life was destroyed.

A family member was attacked and later died from an assault by her 16 year old neighbor, she was 14 at the time. The neighbor was constantly in trouble with the law and was on home detention at the time. He was later arrested after his mother had turned over his bloody clothes to the police he tried to hide. So I think my point of view might be relevant on this question. In this case I don't think capital punishment is a fair question to have been based on this story in Wisconsin. For one they don't allow capital punishment in that state. Remember Jeffrey Dahmer, he was sentenced to life in prison, but was killed by a fellow inmate in prison. Another thing to keep in mind is that judges don't like to impose capital punishment unless there is obvious support and outrage by the community. In most cases the prosecution will seek capital punishment, but the decision normally is decided by the judge. In any case I would say that life in prison without parole is the best anyone could hope for, for the scumbags involved in this case. And they would deserve it. However I do think capital punishment is an appropriate sentence in cases similar to the one I mentioned earlier that involved my niece. Home detention didn't stop her neighbor from breaking into her home and attacking her. Rehabilitation doesn't always succeed, and it's expensive to keep people in prison for life. So I say yes in certain case to capital punishment.

No. The death penalty should be reserved for the taking of a life or multiple lives. But that doesn't mean they can't serve so many years in prison that it becomes practically a life sentence.

It would be different if the girl died.

The United States already imprisons more people and puts more people to death than all but three or four countries in the world. We're becoming a very blood thirsty lot.

While I support capital punishment, am a dedicated Republican and a staunch foe of the ACLU, I think this case does not warrant capital punishment. Long prison sentences yes, with a cell mate named Bubba who likes to push your sh!t in.

Save the death penalty for the more severe cases.

WOW! I can't imagine this happening to a child, and in this case YES! I believe when you are 15 you know what you are doing and to be honest, most kids start having sex when they are around 12 so if you are old enough to do that you are old enough to take the punishment and the 40 year old that was there I would like to castrate him myself My what this world is coming to, this is why I choose not to have children too crazy out there!

I don't believe the death penalty is a deterrent to would-be criminals. That being said, I acknowledge that I would personally want to kill anyone who I knew had done that to a child. I don't think it should be left up to the state. They are too far removed from the emotional element attached to a heinous crime like this. I think the local community in which a crime like this is committed could give a punishment that would have murderers and rapists thinking twice before acting on their sick impulses.

I can't believe **** like this happens! Yes, I do support capital punishment, especially when I hear about things like this. I hope that 40 year old uncle "get his" in prison!

The death penalty is usually merited in cases involving the death of children. And while the acts perpetrated are horrific, even more so is the fact that it was committed by a gang of teenagers.

No matter how egregious the act, the death penalty for children cannot be justified.

yes, when i was younger and had not seen all that i have now..i did not..but seeing how and what some people are capable of ..yes..but we need to be careful..this is nothing to be casual about or to take lightly...

a life taken ..is still a life by an others hand...murder..whether legal or not..would not like the wrong people to have to much power with choosing destiny's...even criminals..power is corrupt...

No...they are juveniles. The deserve a very long sentence, maybe 30 years, I mean they get out when they ar 45ish, that ruins their life. i do think that the death penalty is too steep here.
