I receive child support from my ex, but I'm going back to work now and I have to put my baby in childcare and wondered if I need to be asking him to pay half???

Sorry, I meant to say "daycare" instead of "childcare."

YES -- YOU need to go back for a Modification - - there is the BASIC Child Support, the Shared Costs, the Child Care Fees, and the Medical Costs which ALL must be computed and calculated separately to FIND THE TOTAL amount of Child Support that will be required to be paid.

Child support helps pay for that, so if you are already getting it from him and you put your child in daycare you could risk losing out on other benefits that can help you pay for it, like vouchers for childcare. I would say call around and see what kind of help you can get before you put you child in. If it does affect it, just ask him to pay half so the government might not take out too little or too much from his check.

Yes you should ask him to pay half. But it would work out better if you put in with the child support order so there will be no misunderstandings. Because the courts in Maryland consider anything after child support amount a gift. And basically they don't have to do anything else. Which I believe is crazy. The court forgets about the little things sometimes.

Probably depends on the state and the divorce decree. If the laws and/or the decree indicate that child support is to cover his share of all costs, then that's that.

However, I believe you need to give him first right of refusal, not just a bill for pre-school or daycare if you are returning to work. He's the dad, and if he can spend time with his child while you are at work, that is often the best solution.

It can be...you can request a modification order of your child support and tell them the reason is because of the expense you are going to incur because of daycare. He'll probably be ordered to pay half of it.

YOU CAN GO BACK TO COURT AND GET A MODIFICATION DUE TO THE XTRA EXPENSE OF DAYCARE OR CHILDCARE DEPENDING WHO MAKES MORE IS THE ONE WHO WILL PAY THE BIGGER PERCENTAGE OF THAT CHILDCARE BILL

yes you should child support and child care are different subjects, he is responsible for child care as well, not half he should pay all . if he was smart he would cooperate with you and just pay because if you take it back to court he will have to pay out . anyhow.
