I dont know if type of file makes a diffrence but the main ones are jpeg mp3, mpeg, and mpg

NO way to do it - jpeg mp3, mpeg, and mpg - are file extentions only available in windows

DOS will not recognise these -

try other DOS OS'S they might be able - like true DOS ??

But the question is ----- why are you trying to use DOS?

if the file is corrupt then there is no hope.

Man, you have DOS, u are mad OLD SCHOOL!!!! unless you are using MS-DOS prompt, which is totally different. well i have no clue.
