1787.

The Constitutional Convention convened in May 1787 to talk about revising the Articles of Confederation. Over the next three months, the Articles were discarded and the original Constitution largely written from scratch. The Constitution was approved on Sept 17.

it was written over 11 years. they started in 1776 and finished in 1787
