Or will it always be "looser" then before . . . I heard it can tear during birth, can that be fixed or prevented? Is having a C Section a better option?

Lol....Yes, it will shrink back to the "normal" size. There are excercises you can do if you're that worried about it. When you sit on the toilet to tinkle, stop the flow, then release, then start...etc.....C sections leave scars.

Having a C section is not a better option. There's a lot more healing involved and a lot more that can go wrong!
Apparently some women's vaginas don't go back to normal (considering an episode of Dr. 90210 that I saw) however, mine did. I had 3 kids, all naturally.
You can help prevent tearing by asking your doc or midwife to do a perineal massage while you're pushing. This means you don't push the baby out too fast, you stop and they kind of massage around the area to help keep it from tearing.
An episiotomy cuts the vagina, and may be necessary in the event of a forceps delivery. Avoid these-- don't let them give you one because they say it'll be a neater tear.
Also, if you're a little loose, you can do Kegels or use vaginal weights. Accept that your body is forever changed-- your stomach will be looser, your boobs saggier, and so on and so forth. But your baby is worth it!

It will be looser for a brief time after giving birth, but will be back to normal soon. It is possible to tear during birth, but it is not nearly as bad as it sounds. Your doctor or midwife stitches it up after the placenta is out. Being able to move around (not having an epidural) and not having an episiotomy (doctor cuts you to prevent tearing, but tears heal better) can make tearing less likely.

I have had a c/section and a natural birth - I would take natural a million times before having another c/section. I was in pain for a MUCH longer time after my c/s even though I did tear during my natural birth.

yes the vagina does shrink back down.
It might not be as tight as before.
A C-section is never the better option. It is major surgery.
Nature has a way of healing up a woman after giving birth.
Yes there might be need of stitches, but after giving birth you don't even feel them.

Yes you may tear during delivery, but they stitch it up and the healing process is faster then a C-Section, so that is not an option unless medically needed. And yes it normally shrinks back in due time,6-8 weeks. But as long as it heals properly you should have no worries. Go to your doctor when your baby is 6 weeks old to get a check up.

If the cervix/vagina tear during natural child birth they are stiched back up, it's called an epsiotomy. No C-sections are NOT a better option. You still have staples/sutures there is a higher risk of infection and a longer recovery time because it is a MAJOR abdominal surgyer.

No, women don't stay loose after natural child birth. When I had my daughter, I had an episiotomy and the doctor sewed me back up. Now that I have healed from it I am just as tight if not tighter than before I had her. And no, a c-section is not better! It takes alot longer to heal from a c-section.

we're made for it! All will be back the same or better than before! ask or research about "Kegel" exercises. C sections are not better for so many other reasons. You may tear during birth but your doctor will stitch you and you will be fine. You can also have your partner preform 'perineal massage' look these things up online ....good luck (talk to your doctor or midwife)

Yes, dear, ti does go back, rather quickly in fact. If there is a difference, it is minute (tiny), not noticeable. the opening can tear if your doctor lets it, otherwise they cut it to prevent that from happening, and stitch it. C-sections are only for those who can not deliver naturally. There are good books out there, ask your doctor, he has lots...

it will become the same size before birth within time and yes the vagina can tear at birth which can be fixed with stitches

I don't think it will be a noticable difference. I've had two children and mine is "fine". I had an episiotomy with the first and a natural tear with the second and all is just fine. No need to worry about that. Your doctors will take good care of you.
