I am a Spanish teacher... this is what I suggest. First, when it comes to spelling all of the countries as spelled exactly like the sound. For example... Venezuela. The e's in Spanish sound like "ay." If you can say it you can spell it.

Look at your map and in the order that you have the countries listed look at the first letter of each country. Make a word from the first letters or just memorize the first letters. So you have Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile. Bolivia is also near there, but it is surrounded by land; no ocean at all. You can learn Bolivia separately because of this. So remember CEPCh and you are on the way.

As far as Paraguay and Uruaguay... even I had trouble remembering which was which. Remember that Paraguay is uP and Uruaguay is Under. Make an association with those letters.

Now for capitals... make an association for each. Bo go ta Colombia and then quito ecuador. (Like bo went to colombia and quit ecuador). Ecuador and quito both have QUA sound (of course qu in Spanish is a K sound but for the purpose of learning this you can say it wrong). Think of "limes" in Peru (lima) and remember that they both have just 4 letters. Create a visual picture to help you. Santiago Chile is like a name. Peaceful Bolivia... (la paz) and Buenos Aires Argentina. Buenos Aires translates to something like "good air." Airy Argentina... Uruguay is like a mountain of videos (montevideo) and then Paraguay makes assumptions (asuncion).

Then there is honduras and tegucigalpa... tea and goosey gal and pa... Break it down. You can do it! Managua and Nicaragua end the same and the ones that have the name of the country in the capital are gimmes.

Good luck

Guess you have to get them all listed then you use the first alphabets to form sentence or a song or a poem. That will help you remember what they stand for.

Good-luck!!
