I am so sick of being pregnant but I want a healthy baby so I dont want to do anything stupid to induce labor. I want to have it come naturally. This is my first child and I was just needing some reasuring stories and experiences to prove that just because this is my first that she will be late. So, mothers with first born children how early was your baby and how fast did your pregnancy progress? i know every woman is different but it helps ease the anxiety knowing other stories. I also got checked today and am almost 1 centimeter dialated and 50% effaced.

You won't have much longer to wait. Every woman gets sick and tired of being pregnant and wants her baby to get here asap about the 8th month. Please be patient. When your baby is ready, the baby will be born. I hope this helps.

My baby boy was born exactly on his due date. But the old wives tale says that the firstborn can be either 2 weeks early or 2 weeks late. My pregnancy was slow up until the last couple months that it kicked into high gear, but then it slowed down again. I was 2 centimeters for over a week before I went into labor and had a natural delivery.

The longer you go...and start dialating and effacing...but not laboring...the shorter your actual "pain" is in labor. I was dialated to 3 and 75% effaced with my first one when I finally went into labor. 45 minutes later, I had a baby. I know I am a strange one to go that quick...my second one was 15 min. SO I decided to have a home birth for the third. I was in labor for 4 hours with him. The best thing you can do when you do finally go into labor...is focus on relaxing. It makes the contractions function better and less painful.
Good luck

Hey, I would say, if you are 50% effaced, it shouldn't be long now. When I went for my first check-up that involved a pelvic, I was 2cm dialated and 80% effaced. My doctor told me it could be up to 2 weeks...there was just no knowing. Well, that was a Weds and I went into labor that Sat morning! My water broke about 9am that Sat. I think it won't be long for you now. I wish you a painless and joyful labor! I highly recommend an epidural! Best wishes.

With my first, I went into labor ten days early. I had this book about the Bradley method of childbirth, and it had all these ideas for starting labor. About two weeks before my due date, I started them (I was HUGE and even my dr. was getting worried/thinking about inducing). ANYWAY, here they are:
WALK.....a lot
Have orgasms. (This is tricky when you feel like you are about to pop, you're so big!)
Nipple Stimulation -- I'm not kidding. Seems unrelated, but think about a woman's milk letting down when she is sexually excited...it's all connected.

If you think these past 6 months have been dreadful - wait for the trials of the next 20 years! This will be a piece of cake!

Just because it's your first child, doesn't mean she or he, will be late....My first daughter was 5 days early. Be patient, you will surely have a healthy and beautiful baby any day now. Congrats.
