I have been taking birth control pills for about five years now. I want to stop taking them so I can get pregnant. I have 16 pills left in this pack(including the placebo). How am I suppose to know when to try? I dont want to wait months just to try for one!

I would toss them, and wait until after you start your next period. Days 12-14 are supposed to be the most fertile days. Having sex a couple days before you ovulate is actually better, because the sperm can live in your body for up to 3 days. If the sperm is already present when you ovulate, you have a much better chance of conceiving! It may take you a couple months for your body to regulate, but just keep trying :)

Depending on your age regardless of going off the pill it will take you 5-7 months on average and sometimes up to a year. You might want to learn what your normal cycle is, so try after your first month being off the pill. I would stop taking them right before the placebos. Then you will have a normal period. You can take your basal temp in the AM to find out when you ovulate (temp is highest). 14 days prior to your period is when you are ovulating, so you will want to have sex every couple days prior before that (sperm can live up to 5 days MAX, therefore starting 5 days prior to ovulation you have a better chance of getting pregnant.) Just beware, if you do not have a 28 days cycle the 14th day prior might not be the day you ovulate.

I believe you can throw out your birth controll pills at anytime and start trying immediatly. It may not work the first month off the pill because you still have a little in your system. The best time to try is about 14 days after your period. But every womens cycle is different. I got pregnant after only about 10 days after my period so start trying as soon as you are ready. Everytime you have sex it increases the chances of you concieving.

They say to at least wait 3 months and make sure how your body reacts on stopping the pill, and when you do, let things come natural, and go with the flow with your partner, don't try to hard it will just make matters worse and take longer for you to conceive with the stress of trying, , stress can give you all the pregnancy symptoms, Take it from someone who know, good luck to you and your partner.........

I was told to wait one month after going off birth control pills. Then the 14th day after the 1st day of your period is the day you are supposedly most fertile.
