I mean seriously interpret the question before answering? There are people who are really looking for answers may it be irrelevent or desparate to get the answers and some of the answers given are plain stupid!

Obviously if you are not a idiot then it doesn't apply to you!!

But, the way you are answering my question proves me right. You still haven't read the entire question. Your first assumption was that I called all of you "idiots". And that's it, nothing beyond that...

Not all of us are idiots. But there are a few idiots that ask dumb questions!!!!

Okay, let's critique your question because you seem to believe that no one reads the questions. Firstly, I think what you really meant to write for your header was "Do idiots really read the questions that people ask?". That would be a non-threatening statement because the "you" is omitted and therefore not directed at the reader. Secondly, your last sentence is a run on sentence with poor grammer. I think what you meant was "There are people who are really looking for answers and may be desperate. Some of the answers are just plain stupid or irrelevent."

It's very difficult to take a question seriously if it is poorly worded. On another note, often I reply to poorly asked questions quickly to grab 2 points. This seems fair to me in the spirit of "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer". Though in truth there are no bad questions, just poorly worded ones. If someone is seriously interested in an answer (which costs 5 points) then the writer would be best served if the question is worded correctly with enough background detail. Often I see questions like "Should I go to law school?" Sorry, not enough information to give any kind of meaningful answer.

No, I didn't read this one; I just want the two points...

Seriously - I've been here for about forty-eight hours and scored almost a dozen 'best answers' already, because I do take the time to think about what is being asked, and why. I guess it's the teacher in me - or the 'rescuing strays' syndrome that says 'help those who are seriously asking for help'.

I don't bother with the trolls, the provocative, the racists, the immature (to be distinguished from children who genuinely are puzzled or need homework help), or the... um.. idiots, of whom we have our fair share. But if I feel I have some useful knowledge or some real-life experience - well, the virtual world gives me a chance to share it with a far wider variety of people than ever before!

I hope that answers your question, at least with regards to my motivation...

BTW, a little trivia fact which some of us may already know: 'Yahoo' originally was coined by Jonathan Swift, a famous satirical author, in the novel Gulliver's Travels, to serve as the name of a barbarous, 'detestable' animal of humanoid shape - a greedy, languageless, savage thing (which Swift contrasts to his talking 'civilized' and philosophical horses to great effect) - in other words, an idiot.

I read the question at least three times before answering. I think about it, and if I don't get it, I just move on to something else because I don't want to give an answer that's totally off the wall and not what the poster what looking for...

Yes, I read the questions. Do you realize that you called everyone here tonight an idiot. I won't retaliate, but there may be some who might. Get ready.

Yes, I read them. Call me and idiot all you want, but I'll still read the stupid question. There's a lot more entertaining than serious questions!

I feel ya on that one. I'd say close to 90% of the answers to my questions are smart*** remarks and it frustrates me. I won't do it, never have because I know people may actually genuinely need help. Unless its a smart*** question, I won't make a smart*** remark. But you know how it goes, sometimes people need an awakening.

Polls and survey's are for fun... If you want serious ask your question in a different category... It's simple either play by P&S peoples ideals or get out.... I have my own SERIOUS categories... And if you have a question in one of those areas I will answer it IF I CAN

If you read the questions, then you have to give an answer that makes sense, frankly I just don't want to get that involved or work that hard.

i actually do take the time to read and give thoughtful answers. i think that's what makes yahoo answers so addicting to me - the ability to express my opinions to people i don't even know. plus, if you give a thoughtful answer, you might get 10 pts for best answer. i don't really know why i want to get 10 pts, or why i even want to make it to level 4 of yahoo answers for that matter, i just do.
