-9+16 equals the same as 16-9 which is 7!

ok a positive plus a positive will always be positive
a negative plus a negative will always be negative. just add the two numbers together and make it negaative. (-5+-5= -10)
a negative plus a positive is different. if you have -5 + 10 you subtract the postive of bothe numbers (10 - 5) you get five. You then make the answer the sign that the biggest number is. In this case it's positive so -5 +10 = 5
When multiply 2 negatives you get a positive.
when multiplying a negative and a positive you get a negative.
when subtracting with negatives follow these steps
5- - 3.
1 keep the 1 number the same
change the subtract to add 5+ -3
change the sign of the second number. 5+3
add or subtract (answer is 8)

draw a number line that goes below and above zero . Like this -10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ...... then count from -9 ...... count 16 places from the -9 (going towards the 0) and where you land is your answer . Good Luck :)

u should suppose it as 16-9
if u have 2 - like -3-4 u put a - then add it up which will mean -7
-5+9=4
-10+4=-6 u take the higher number and then do it
-9-1=-10
-4+9=5

-9+16=7 it is really quite simple. if u have -3+ -3= -6 but if u have -3 x -3=9
negative times negative=postive
negative + negative=negative
negative times postive=negative
negative + postive=negative or postive it depends on the numbers for example -4+-4= -8 or -4+4=0 or -4+5=1

Its a negative times a negative that makes a positive. -9+16 = 7
The simplest way to remember is draw a number line when doing addition and subtraction and remember a 2 negatives make a positive when doing division or multiplication. -1*-1=1

Okay, this number line goes from -5 up to 5. Find the first number in your equation....for example, 3. Put your finger ON the number 3. If the sign is (-), be prepared to slide your finger to the left <. So, 3 - 5= -2. Just slide your finger down 5 places. If two minus signs ever touch, consider them magically changed to positive. ex. 3-(-3)=6 In your case (-9+16), you're going to go RIGHT on the number line because it's a "plus" sign.

first of all, there are no such things as negatives. it's all about adding and subtracting positive numbers. negatives is just a concept.
-5 + -6 = ?
is really
0 - 5 - 6 = - 11
16 + -9 = ?
nope, sorry in reality it is...
16 - 9 = 7
for now make your teacher happy by believing. once you are in college they will tell you the truth about negatives.

well just think of this way while doing whatever your doing make a number line and number as far as you want and start working with it for example this is a problem that we did today at school
ex. -9 -(-12) the answer to that would be the differ ence to 12-9 which would be positive do you know what SADS stands for please replay if can.

= 7
