I'm Korean. (South Korea)
I always feel like American people don't know about Asian countries expect China and Japan
I really want to know what American people think of Korea.
I know that American people really like Japanese culture,
custom, food and something like that,but i don't konw what
American people think of korea.
so, my question is

what is the first expression of Korea?

I know its not good to stereotype, but whenever South Korea is in the news, it always seems like some group of people is taking an extremist position, like the student riots there (at least that's how they are depicted on the news). It gives me the impression that Koreans are a bit fanatical. And the politicians in North Korea (presumably similar culture) contribute to that impression.
That doesn't mean any of this is true, but that is the impression I get from the news.

I have many Korean friends and have been to Korea 5 times. I love Korea and all my Korean friends. Some things are unfamiliar to Americans, like the different levels of formality in the language. Korean food is my favorite of all the countries. And Korean girls are the prettiest in the world!

My impression is a very positive one. S. Korea is a wonderful place. Pusan is huge, and amazing.
Yes, you are a little overshadowed by Japan (due to the war, and Godzilla, and Sony, etc.) and China (due to their economical might).
But great food, people, and well everything. I was so lucky to find the show "Dae Jang Geum" simple astounding!
