I was thinking about naming my baby girl Gianna, both my husband and I have italian heritage and the name is a feminine italian version of John which is my grand fathers name. I don't know any others with this name, what do you think?

Gianna is a great name!!! Trust me, no one has that name combination. This is the name that you plan on giving your daughter, which is great. What's the story on Ruth? Anyway, good luck with everything.

I think Gianna is a cute name...Gianna Ruth.. Here're the information about that name just for you from me.. Hopefully I can help you... That's a cute and great name....

GIANNA
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Italian

Short form of GIOVANNA / GEOVANNI (Italian form of Johannes (see JOHN). The Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini and the 17th-century painter and sculptor Giovanni Bernini are two famous bearers of this name.)

RUTH
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English, German, Scandinavian, Biblical

Other Scripts: רוּת (Hebrew)

Pronounced: ROOTH [key]

From a Hebrew name which was derived from the Hebrew word רְעוּת (re'ut) meaning "friend". This is the name of the central character in the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament. She was a Moabite woman who was the ancestor of King David.

Happy choosing and take care....

Dee

Earlier today a friend mentioned that she's going to name her baby " Gessina Danine " or " Gissine Danine " She hasn't decided yet, she's due in Nov.
I think Gianna is beautiful and it goes really nicely with Ruth.

Pretty name which I have heard recently. It was a baby a bit younger than my son. I'm still trying to decide if Ruth sounds good with it.

Pretty name! I am partial, however, to the name, Ruth, coz that's my mom's name.
