The part I remember was soldiers in dress uniforms, an officer bitching to one soldier for not having all of his medals on, and told him to go put them on. Soldier comes back wearing medal of honor and such, and his boots. the officer salutes him. Hope thats enough to get the name of the movie

My husband is Army so we're pretty good with any military movies, and this is a favorite of his...Officer and a Gentleman with Richard Gere and Debra Winger, came out in 1982.
