My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas

(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto).

I haven't heard of a rhyme, but a phrase I learnt at school was this:

My (Mercury)
Very (Venus)
Easy (Earth)
Method (Mars)
Just (Jupiter)
Speeds (Saturn)
Up (Uranus)
Naming (Neptune)
Planets (Pluto)

Look at the first letters of each word to remember. However, Pluto has been reclassified as a dwarf planet; this year, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) redefined the word "planet", and under the new definition, there are EIGHT planets in the solar system, with Pluto being classified as a "dwarf planet". I do not know whether the school curriculum has adapted to these changes and is teaching about the eight planets, or if it sticking to the "nine-planet" theory that has been taught for years.

Well........the one I learned was the "My Very Energetic Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas," but since they decided Pluto was a "sub-planet" a couple of weeks ago, my students came up with, "My Very Evil Mother Just Served Us Nothing!"

Have fun!
