As an artist & musician I am opposed to censorship from the government. But I am also a supporter of our Police. I believe that the best way to show an artist that his public disapproves of his message is to refuse to buy his/her recordings, & refuse to attend his/her concerts. It would also have an impact if the public boycotted record labels that choose to release offensive content, as well as the radio stations that air them.

I never have nor will I ever own, posess, or listen to a recording whos content promotes the killing of a cop.

NO! I could go into the constitution and free speech, etc., etc. But the reason that these songs are made is because these types of things happen everyday, maybe not in the little cocoon that your little naive world provides, but in real life it does everyday unfortunately! And it doesn't happen because of the music, the music happens because of the crimes. And if stupid people would actually listen to some of the songs that they try and ban like what I think you were trying to mention: Cop Killer by Ice-T, you will find that it was not a song about just killing cops, it was a song about police brutality. Why don't you try banning the crooked and sinister cops that are committing these offenses instead of doing their civil duty, instead of the song that is merely pointing them out?! The song never hurt anyone, but the people that they are talking about in it did, why don't you hold them accountable?! If you don't like it then turn it off, and while you are at it continue to turn a blind eye to the real world and live out your life as ignorance is bliss in suburbia!

No, it is the artist's right to express him or herself. Killings and rapes go on everyday, to cover it up is to ignore it and make a decision about what everyone else should hear. Anyone who rapes or kills does it for reasons other than music. There are alot of things I hear that are offensive to me, for example, as an atheist, I was offended when I accidently left the tv on and I awoke to a Christian teachings show with that guy from Growing Pains. This was freaking infiltrating my dreams and bothering my sleep! I interrupted my slumber only enough be annoyed and then to turn it off and go back to sleep.

well..
the music to that would automatically get a Parental Advisory sticker on it.

so i guess its not the artist's fault if parents buy it for their kids, because the artists' already warned them.

buttttttt....
yea. i think that its a horrible subject to write about
