what is the command in solaris 2.8 that we will take the date supplied, subtract from epoch and o/p in seconds

/usr/bin/perl -e 'printf "%d\n", time;' gives epoch time in seconds. I want to do this

date - epoch time = answer in seconds.

will appreicate any help.
