What O.S. do you run?
Did this happen all at once or has it been slowing down gradually?
How many icons are near the clock? (too many programs starting up)
Does it run ok after it loads up or is it slow in general?

Okay... you might have too many programs starting up when you turn your machine on... try this:
Click on Start button
Go to "Run"
Type in : msconfig
click start up
unclick the ones you don't want to start up ... that you will start on your own once you are on the computer.
Click - apply
Click - ok

That should do it.

Type msconfig in the run command dialog box, and choose "selective startup". On the tab labeled "startup", you can choose what items load on startup.
