i own a repair shop,,and it sounds like its in need of a good tune up,,this means fuel filter,,air filter,,new spark plugs,,and maybe plug wires ,,as well as a new distributor cap,,and rotor button,,and you need to let someone do it that has the tools,,and the know how to do it with,,if you catch it now before it stops running it will cost a lot less to do,,if you wait much more longer ,,you may have to have it towed to a shop,,and that could be expensive,,all the way around,,at least take it,,and have it checked,,they can tell you what they think anyway about it,,and you,ll have an idea of what it might cost to fix it,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

Some possibilities: Clogged air filter, clogged fuel filter, idle set to low, dirty spark plugs, to name a few. All those items are done during a tuneup.
Another possibility could be the engine overheating. Their are many reasons for that, but check the gage on your instrument panel to see if it is running hot.

either the catilytic converter is clogging up or you have idle sensor that is bad , if you have a chance stop and run the codes on the car could also be just bad spark plugs has your fuel economy gone down has the accleration in the car gone down from before the problem
