I'm in jr. high, and I really NEED one. I mean, in Elemenatary, you don't really need one, but, now, I get to walk home, what if there was an emergency? and I go to all the football games, and the dances, and all that jazz, My mom needs to know when to pick me up from all these events, and my parents are divorced, and I want to be able to call my mom when I'm at my dad's. And, like I just really need a phone, and I tried to talk to my mom, she is bullheaded, she says" Shut up, I don't wanna hear about a cellphone" so, yeah. and making a chart is just stupid. Please don't say whining or begging, that won't work, and don't say get a job, I'm not old enough. And, I am not gonna babysit or even worse, do a lemonaide stand. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, and I know this question has been asked over and over.

I'm a teacher in junior high and you don't need a phone. If you go to the dances, or the games then you can use the school phone there is always someone there at the school that can let you use the phone. If you are at your dad's house then simply use his house phone to call your mom.
I know you said that babysitting or a lemonade stand you will not do, but if you don't make your own money to pay for your bill why would your mom consider getting you a phone?

Maybe you could ask for the kind of cell phone that requires a pre-paid card. I am sure you mom could use a hand at home by doing some extra jobs to pay for the minutes. That way you would really use your phone for emergencies (if as you say that's why you want it). I have an 8th grade daughter and all her friends have cell phones. She does not. Her friends parents are all angry that they keep going over their minutes and they are ending up with very high bills.
The pre-paid phone are good in that you will really watch your minutes. Maybe you could ask for the phone for your birthday or Christmas, and work out some extra chores that you could do to help your dad or mom to help pay for the calling card. It's worth a try.
If not, try not to stress over it. I know it's the thing to have, but you can still be cool and fit in with out a cell phone -

You don't need a cell phone! You're in junior high and you can't even drive. Try not acting like a spoiled brat when you talk to your mom and maybe she'll consider it. To get you a cell phone would just be a waste of money unless there is an actual reason besides talking to your friends. Emergencies don't happen often,but if they do there are people around who do have cell phones.

As others have said, you DON'T need one yet.
If you want one, WORK for it. Babysit, mow the lawn, etc. and earn your own money to pay for it. You're old enough to babysit, obviously. Then, get a prepaid phone since you can't enter in to a contract until you're 18 anyway.
Don't give us that bull about 'emergencies.' What.. your mom is 10 minutes late to pick you up and you want to harrass her about it? There are public phones, school phones, friends with phones, etc. You don't need a cell phone-- especially if YOU can't pay for it!

You can buy a used one at Ebay, but the cost of a phone is nothing compared to the monthly cost.
Maybe you can borrow your parents' cell when you're going to a dance or other special occasions.
When you're old enough for a part-time job, you can get your own cell.

I am in renovation sector for 10 over years. i used cell phone for works and the usage is always above normal average.My phone call unlimited and is paid by my company.Sound great ?You bet ........ i make my rule same like most guy in our sector.No call after 7pm , no weekend calls .....all unless important and urgent.Why ? Why?....If you have Handphone .Every call and sms meant money .Most of our calls and sms are unnecessary and not important.For example How are you My advice ........live without one if you can until you really need.

you really don't need a cell phone unless it is the migo or firefly. It is programed so you can only call certain people. have your mom look into that. You don't need anything more than that really!!!

you cant earn money unless you work.. you can mow ur neighbor's lawn or help an old person in your community walk, carry the groceries...
