Man you guys answer question you dont even know.... you can use salt water for drinking water... in the Florida Keys they use Salt water and they filter it etc. to become fresh water. So its true why cant we just have that in atleast all the coast of America we even had to do an eassy like that for school in English class.

Who said America doesn't waste water? I see it wasted all the time. The ocean is salt water and it has to be de-salinized to use it and it is an expensive process; groundwater is cheaper and can be found down there under the soil where there lies the water table in most places. So, now you know.

No one owns the oceans! People own the land... and maybe a pool and a small beach, but not oceans! Even if oceans were properties, it is no reason to waste water. Do you know how much of it is drinkable?

Because an awful lot of America is a long way from either ocean so it would cost a fortune to transport the water (which is very heavy) and the cost of desalination is very, very high.

we drink fresh water from rivers and springs, u go ahead and drink salt water, u cant waste all u want...
