I know it's a little cliche for a girl, but I have a small butterfly tattooed on my back. For me, it's a reminder of an important person in my life who really helped me to see myself in a more positive light-- to see the world in a better light for that matter! I think every tattoo should have some personal significance, not just because it's cute or macho or trendy.
I don't regret it at all. I knew for about four years that I wanted to get it, and I really took my time to think about how I would feel later. It's not something spur of the moment. Also, since it's fairly small and in a discreet location, no one has to know it's there if I don't want them to.

I have 5 tattoos. I have a black panther and my name in Chinese on my right arm, an arm band on my left arm, a butterfly on my right breast and a cross held by two hands in front of a sunrise with both of my grandmothers' names, dob and dod. The only one I regret is the black panther, but only because people always take it out of context. I got it because the panther is my favorite animal. Other than that one, I don't regret any of them. I'm actually considering two more!

No tattoos here...my parents drilled it in my head that i'd go to hell if i got one. Not that it isnt crap...but by the time i was grown it wasnt a big thing and seeing all the stupid ones on people doesnt do much for me now. The body is a temple...not a place to display unnecessary half-tasteless ink that will fade/run over time.

I have small moon with two stars on my back shoulder. The moon represent me and the stars are my children. :)
I dont regret it because it has meaning to me.
I plan to get another, a butterfly fluttering on my ankle. It represents my aunt that passed away in 1999 from cancer. She was my best friend!
As long as the tat has meaning I dont think you could regret it. Dont get like, Spongebob on a whim!

I have a tattoo of a rose and vine around my arm. I am so used to it being there I don't even think about it, but the very few times I do I would have to say I don't regret it. I have had it for so long, it is a part of who I am, but I would have to say I am not going to get another one. Me personally, I don't want my body "full" of tattoos. I think regretting a tattoo or not really depends on what you get (example: say you like butterflies now, you might not like them later) and if your feelings about tattoos change as you get older. I think that the people who get one just because they think its "cool" or they want to "fit in" are the ones who regret it later. Also the ones who are "madly in love" and want their partners name on their bodies. They are the ones who really regret it when they aren't with the person anymore. If you are thinking of getting a tattoo, please don't get one of your partners name (unless you want to date men with the same name for the rest of your life....lol...just kidding....lol)

There is big business in the removal of tattoos, most especially Chinese symbols, which they are learning either doesn't mean anything, or means things like "Dumb White Boy" or "I like playing with big male sexual members".

I have seven and like them all, probably, as other people mentioned because they mean something, and none of them were trendy like the chinese characters or tweety and the tasmanian devil before that.
