Both elevators in my apartment building have not been inspected since 2001. They make horrible noises and i really would rather NOT die in an elevator accident. Does anyone know who i can directly report to since the landlord does not care??

I can offer you the following website for a Q and A about the same subject matter. It was posted in the Los Angeles Times recently and the recommendation they give is more applicable to California. And I don't know what city and state you live in. But using this as an example, it may give you guidance as to the type of regulatory agency you need to locate.

If you noticed the expiration date on a paper in the elevator, you might want to look one more time to see if there's also a phone number associated with it.

California Elevator Inspection

All rental properties are licensed by the city and have to meet basic requirements to keep their license. Call the local housing court for your area and ask about the elevator issue. Are other tenants also concerned? There is probably a city inspector who would be able to come out and red-tag the elevator if it is unsafe.

The elevator shoul have an inspection card on it, this should have the number of who inspected it last call them and tell them about it. Or call the city building inspector.

i might want to assert, i said the different day even as i replaced into taking the elevator that the allow had expired your time in the past, this concerns me in view that all the tenants use the elevator which incorporates myself. you've not said it because you may want to be very busy, i trust it would want to be contained in the proper interest of each body in contact to have this treated once attainable. thanks on your on the spot interest to this be counted. wish this allows.

Call the city government and report it? In our city, you can even call the mayor and report things.

first ask the management if they have the updated one. If not, you can call the county offices which handle licenses and report them.
