My baby is 2 months old and eating about 8 oz in the morning and 6-8oz at night when is okay to give him a tablespoon of cereal? He is 13 pounds 7 oz. He is very advance for his age.

Doctors are going to tell you betwee 4-6 months. That is when I did it for my 3 children. I lent more towards the 4 months. You say that your child is advanced for his age, and that might be true. but the fact is that he swallow reflex might be totally developed yet, and giving him cereal too early will just cause him to gag. And please DO NOT make the nipple in the bottle bigger and put cereal into the bottle. This dangerous too, because the flow of the nipple is not regulated the way that it should be, and he chould choke on that.
For now, I would just suggest, that you hold off on the cereal for about another 2 months. You don't want to rush him into things. he is already going to grow up faster than you know it.

Giving cereal is not about being advanced, weighing a certain amount, or anything other than a digestive tract's ability to digest foods other than breastmilk or formula. This happens in most babies around 6 or 7 months. Therefore, it is best to wait until baby is 6 months old to introduce cereal, though if he is eating more than 40 ounces or so of formula, cereal may be advised after he turns 4 months (but no sooner!). Introducing cereal too early can increase the possibility of diabetes, allergies, asthma, and GI tract problems.

When he is 4 months try a little cereal then, but he will be fine with just breastmilk for the first 6 months to 1 year of life.

2 months is too early to feed your baby cereal. Most doctors will say you need to wait at least til they are 4 months and some will say not until 6 months. Go to the Gerber website and they have some tips on how to judge when your baby is ready for baby foods. I find it very helpful! But before you start I still say talk to his doctor first!

I would ask pediatrician. Mine recommended 6 months. My baby is almost 5 months right now and weight 14 lbs at his 4 month appt. She said she wanted to wait because he is not taking 8 oz. at a time just yet. I would try to wait if you can, they say starting kids on food too early increases chances of food allergies

I started my daughter at 2 1/2 months and when I took her into the Dr. for her 3 month checkup they said if she was drinking more than 32 ounces a day that she is ready for cereal.
