He started off today by apologising on behalf of the Labour Party. Whilst he is indeed the leader of the Labour Party he hasn't exactly entered into detailed dialogue with ordinary party members about his proposed departure at some point before the next General Election so should he have decided to take it upon himself to apologise on behalf of ordinary members of the party? I'm interested in knowing people's GENUINE views on this point - not what you think of Blair as PM, or whether you think he should stay or go.

Do you see it as an apology for party members' individual actions, or an attempt to take responsibility for the party airing its dirty laundry so publicly?

I feel sorry for him, not that I am a Blairite, I think its great that he apologised, its all about the party tactics, he is playing chess and the media is the chessboard. Its giong to get interesting to see what happens next! He obviously apologised for his own means, it wasn't genuine.. you'll see... just keep watching the news! I think by apologising they are continuing to air their dirty laundry out in public!

Yes. He is a responsible politican, not many are. Blair knows what he needs to do and apolgising on behalf of the Labour party was appropriate and justified. If he hadn't we'd be asking why not.

Blaire should have apologized to Tootie after Mrs. Garrett caught her sneaking around with Nataile and Jo.

I see it as an hollow apology that attempts to deflect criticism and diminish the actions of people who had the good sense and gumption to take a stand against a bankrupt and irresponsible politician who should not be in power.

Blair is a man who should be prosecuted and imprisoned for what he has done in our names against our will to the detriment of our country and at the cost of tens of thousands of lives.

Blair should have apologised for lying to the British people, for a disastrous and illegal war in Iraq, for failing to call on Israel to cease shelling civilians, for staying in power despite failing to win a majority of votes, for the death of David Kelly (an honest patriot who dared speak the truth) and the death of tens of thousands of civilians in the Middle East plus the devastation he has caused to the lives of hundreds of thousands more.

Blair is vile creature who should hang his head in shame and repent.

He is the leader of his party and felt railroaded into making a statement on something he did not want to. I applaud him for apologising and talking sense.
