If you mean in the USA..... immigration from Russia, Poland and Germany changing the balance of population from an Anglo-Celtic dominance to diverse.... expansion of population and industry and agro-industry in the mid-West.... emergence of St Louis MO as a major city because of the railways, also Kansas City.... emergence of San Francisco as #1 city in California and relative decline of Monterrey.... white settlers given 'free land' on the northern Great Plains e.g. Wyoming and S Dakota.... America's conquest of Arizona taking the north from the Dineh (= Navajo) people and the south from the Apache (despite the best efforts of Geronimo)..... decline of rural New England because of the greater efficiency of agriculture in the Midwest and the avility to transport its harvest along the new railways.
