This is a active duty Marine General who thins the presidents plan to rigged trials is a bad idea.
"I'm not aware of any situation in the world where there is a system of jurisprudence that is recognized by civilized people where an individual can be tried and convicted without seeing the evidence against him," Brig. What about this guy? The Army JAG, is he a Liberal who loves Terrorists and hates America?
“I believe the accused should see that evidence,” said Maj. Gen. Scott Black, the Army’s Judge Advocate General.

Wow, what a surprise, military people disagreeing with the President. THIS is a story that's deserved more press all along. There's been military people disagreeing with the Administration all along and it doesn't get covered enough.

If an accused person cannot challenge the evidence brought against him or her by the state, what is the point of having a trial, a jury and a judge?

Just impose a sentence and be done with it.

(Sounds like a judicial circus, if you ask me.)

That, I think, summarizes the Bush-Cheney administration's view.

As usual Bush has his head up his Butt He cares nothing about Obeying the laws of this country or the rule set by the judicial system one of which is the accused right to see the evidence against him/her In My opinion Bush is Just as bad if not worse than the terrorist he is claiming to be fighting against. as He uses some of the exact same methods that they do

Excellent post, with sources.
As I have served with the Canadian military during the first Gulf war, I will always suspect any American reason for going to war.(Bush 1 lied about the 250,000 Iraqis military dug in along the Saudi boarder)
And why is it that the United States has to go to war so often, for so little reason or reward? How do you win a fight against a thought?

BTW, Bush is soooo wrong!

And why do Americans have to declare war on ideology's? Like war on poverty, illiteracy, etc.?

I think it's pretty clear who's wrong... and it's not the marine general...

where are all the conservatives? they aren't coming on here to call a marine general a "commie pinko terrorists supporter" like they would for anyone else that says that? how odd?

David C: I think the general is referring to the U.S.... or do you just want to sink to the level or any enemy that ever strikes us? Are we Americans... or are we just a group that sinks to whatever level we want when we feel like it?

I think Bush is subverting the law for his own purposes not for the American people.
And These judges know about the law more than Bush does.

It's called following the law.

Lawyers and military officers are oath-bound to obey the laws and defend the constitution, against all enemies foreign and domestic.

Any lawyer being complicit in illegal can be disbarred. Any military officer following any illegal order can be court martialed.

Bush has gone to far. He has publicy stated that he does not recognize the authority of federal courts to review his actions, and that he will not enforce or follow any law that he doesn't like.

It seems that it would be very American to allow the detainees to see the evidence against them. But Bush, I think, is very unAmerican, hates freedom, and is unpatriotic.

I love America. However, my patriot beliefs tell me that we could be better.
I don't care for Bush. I don't blame him for everything, I just don't agree with him on many things. He does not represent my beliefs and I am sad that he represents me to the world.

I think that is how these guys feel.

These people who are going to trial are not American citizens. They are American haters. I don't really care about due process when these terrorists have American blood on their hands. Let 'em hang.
