1) the impeachment and censure of Pres. Bill Clinton in 1998 (he was not actually impeached in the sense of being turned out of office, but was put on trial and punished)(it demonstrates that when the US population likes a President, not even creeps can kick him out of office).

2) the massive financial and economic crisis amongst the Asian nations in 1998. Indonesia's currency was destroyed by mega-millionaire speculator, George Soros.

3) uhhh.....does 9/11 count as a "significant event"....?

4) the war in Iraq / Saddam Hussein / al-Qaeda / Muslims / "tourists" (as Pres Bush would say)...all based on lies. And the real tragedy is, no one spoke out -- not even any Senator -- when they KNEW that Cheney was full of lies and deception.

There are quite a bit more significant events, such as the war in Bosnia / Serbia, which should be mentioned, but are too numerous to list here!

The first impeachment of a President in over one hundred years. The presidential election conflict of 2000, first time the final decision has to go to the Supreme court. The first ever winning of Best Actor and Best Actress Oscars by African Amercans, Denzel Washington and Halle Berry. The death of great entertainers, Johnny Carson, Rodney Dangerfield, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe. The signing of NAFTA.
