Wow....the whole reason why those things exist is to redistribute energy poleward.
Ya think we'll have enough nuclear reactors in our lifetime (and the ability to direct that energy in the right places) to affect something (at our will, and at a moment's notice) that killed off the dinosaurs and started the ice ages? I think not for several hundreds if not thousands of years....
I'd be sad....because we'd have taken away a part of nature.

No because the sun would no longer have an effect on the earth. I couldn't imagine walking outside without the sun shining down on me during a bad day. As long as the sun exists the atmosphere will have temperature differences. Uneven heating of the earth is what jump starts the weather. Then you put the earth in motion, add some land, water and a bunch of other stuff together and your have thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes. It's the earths way of trying to create a balance. That balance will never happen with the sun around.

Just how is technology going to do all that? It is only as good as the people who create it, and from my stand point I don't see that happening at all in our lifetimes.
