I am trying to get pregnant and can't seem to do so. I have had PID(pelvic inflammatory disease) about 3 years ago could this cause me to be infertile? How would I find out if I am able to get pregnant?

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a general term that refers to infection and inflammation of the upper genital tract in women. It can affect the uterus (womb), fallopian tubes (tubes that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus), ovaries, and other organs related to reproduction. The scarring that results on these organs can lead to infertility, tubal (ectopic) pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, abscesses (sores containing pus), and other serious problems. PID is the most common preventable cause of infertility in the United States.

Haven't you gone to the doctor to find out if PID is a factor??

Do you know when you ovulate? If you are not sure, try intercourse every other day all month long-seriously. Or buy Taking Charge of Your Fertility if you want to take your temp to find out when, if and how often your ovulate per month.

Your doctor needs to check your blood for testing to find out if your progesterone is too low or high. Fertility doctors can check your levels, tubes, your ovaries and many other things to find out why. It is an invasive process so be prepared.

Also get your husband checked to see if he has a high enough sperm count.

Remember, your fertility has nothing to do with the potential father's fertility. You both need to get checked
