Yes, leave it on....an anti virus will only scan things after they come into your computer, a firewall will block it from coming in at all.

It depends on SEVERAL factors. First of all, did you just buy Norton AV or Norton Internet Security? NIS IS a firewall and fyi, it sucks horribly. Secondly, if you are on DSL or behind a router (not the case with a single computer and a cable modem) then no, turn the Windows Firewall off as it is double firewalling and can effect performance as well as other problems. If you have a cable modem plugged directly into your PC, then leave it on.

The End

Keep the windows XP firewall, because this is to protect from hackers, and the antivirus is to avoid getting virus mainly thprugh email attachments. They have different functions so you need them both. Personally I don't like Norton because it slows down your computer, and the firewall I wouldn't recomend if used in a network with shared folders or printers.

i might want to assert Norton internet safe practices 2006, and then 2007 etc even as they arrive. keep on with the proffecional ones and in no way ones that pop up everywhere, they're normaly an endemic. Ironic...

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Leave it on and watch for any conflicting problems (error messages etc.) If no problems, leave it on.
