I haven't read the book in over twenty five years, but I have seen the film many times. I think it was the ninth symphony that he was 'accidentally' conditioned against during his 'treatment'

Hearing a bit of "Lovely Lovely Ludwig Van" brought on his feelings of terror and sickness, and made him try to take his own life.
