The exact same thing happened to me when I got pregnant (but mine was not planned). I don't think there is any legal action you can take (but wouldn't be suprised if there was... people sue too easily these days).

You don't want to completely alienate her right now because in the end, she is gramma, and even though things might not be great right now, later on she may come around and for your child's sake, you don't want to have burnt bridges. Your child has a right to get to know her and choose whether or not to be close to her.

Good luck - stick with the upper road in this, because even if she doesn't come around, you will come out looking the best.

Well, when the baby arrives you can get a paternity test and once that's back and he is the father on paper you can sue her for defamation of character IF you have $5,000 to give an attorney for a retainer, UP FRONT win or lose, and IF you can get the people she's telling to come in and testify for you (they won't, no one ever wants to get involved in this crap.) The judge probably won't let half the testimony in as it will be hearsay, not direct from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Anybody can sue anybody, but hardly anyone wins except the lawyers..... :(

Already a protection order?? What a lovely family you're entering into.......MOVE AWAY. Then you won't have to worry about it any more.

And where is the father in all this?

You can civilly pursue a defamation or slander case if it hurt your reputation. Simply hurting your feelings won't cut it; the basis for defamation suits is usually loss of reputation because of purposeful lies put forth by the other party. Speak with a lawyer but remember that civil lawsuits mean nothing if the person doesn't have the money to pay a settlement.

If she tryed (sic) to make you lose your child physically, this could be assault & battery. Call the police.

Good job to get the order of protection. I don't think you have a legal right to sue her, except perhaps for defamation of character, but that's hard to prove. I suggest you and your future husband make it abundantly clear to her that if she doesn't stop spreading her lies, you will consider her an unfit grandmother and will not allow her to be in your lives.

Other than a gag order against her there isn't much to do. Let her gas on about it and go ahead with the marrige. Congrats on the new life you carry. Many years of happiness ahead.

I don't want to get into your situation that's for you to decide but I'd say if only to piss her off why not get a blood test and make copies of the results? Then you can at least show her for what she is. I'm guessing she's a devout christian church goer.... GOOD LUCK and PEACE.

i don't know if there is but what you could do is tell her that if she dose not believe that your unborn child is her grandchild then make her pay for a paternity test to prove that it is hers or in your wishes not hers
good luck and congrats
what is it going to be or do you know yet?
have you picked out some names if so what?
well good luck again and hopefully she will start to understand that your child is her grandchild
