I usually don't get them to look like the ones in the store until several washings. I am assuming you are talking about denim jeans. My experience is the more you wash them the more frayed they get, but you have to keep trimming the long strands off. Good Luck!!

I've found that if I buy them a little long to begin with, the cuffs will fray on their own after a while.

After you cut them, pull some of the horizontal threads out.

just keep washing them I did that w/ a skirt that I made and it worked.:)
