I've been having trouble turning my Dell Latitude D820 (yes, a dell) on and off. It seems that the button under the power button is defective. I've talked to dell about it, but they just sent me a panel with a new power button (i.e. not what I needed). What should I do?

Ask for the electrical part, if it is available as a separate component.

Go to Radio Shack and get some "Contact Cleaner" for electrical parts. Clean the contacts on the button and see if that helps.
