I got it pierced by a professional and it seems to be getting redder by the day. Has anyone had this happen when you got it done? How long until the swelling goes down? It has been only a couple of days so i know it's going to be tender i'm just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Yeah it happened to me when I first got mine done here are some tips.
DO NOT use neosporin under any circumstances, neosporin and peroxide are not for puncture wounds, a belly button ring is a puncture wound. Use anti bacterial soap everyday, such as dial. If it has a pink color that's normal also, if you start to worry take a shot glass, cover the bottom of it with salt, not way to much just enough to cover the bottom, then fill it up a little more than half way with warm water, mix the salt with the water until dissolved, then lean your belly button onto the top of the shot glass to make a suction, then lean back/lay down so the salt water can get onto/into the piercing and start to clear up the bacteria. do this three times a day four times a week.

It takes about 4 to 6 months for you navel to heal. Some people even take up to 9 months. The redness will subside in about 4 to 6 weeks. Don't touch your navel with unclean hands because you can introduce an infection. I would recommend to use H2 ocean or saline solution 2 to 3 times a day. Wash with regular dial and warm water. Just keep it clean and it should be okay. Do not put gold in it while it's healing. A lot of people have a nickel allergy(gold has nickel in it) DO NOT USE DAWN DISH SOAP!!!! DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN!

For a navel piercing, you're looking at anywhere from 4-6 months for the initial healing period, but it can take up to a year or longer to fully heal! A little redness is normal for the first couple of weeks. Be sure that your cleaning it correctly and NOT USING alcohol or peroxide; they will only keep it irritated. I always recommend plain ivory soap in the shower and a splash of band-aid brand hurt-free antiseptic wash after wards.
Be sure to not wear tight or restrictive clothing!!! It's gotta breath!!
If you have a lot of house pets or let the cat/dog sleep in your bed, you may have to clean it more than once a day...
Hope I helped!!

You might need to wash your pierced area with an antiseptic, or salt and you may be getting an allergy reaction/infection! This happens especially with sensitive skin, so use hypoallerngenic stuff! If it gets really bad, check with your doctor. You may need 24karat gold if you have an infection. This happened with my earrings, and the switch to pure gold made the difference!

Yes. make sure you are using an antibacterial soap. i have even heard of dousing it with sea salt & water. I prefer dial soap. The redness will eventually go away but the important thing is to keep it clean!!

I have mine pierced and it took about a year for it to heal fully. Clean it with dawn dish soap or any other antibacterial dish soap. Put neosporin on it and keep turning it. Try not to touch it to much and wash your hands before and after you do. Good luck girl its a long process.

yes, a little redness is normal. Make sure you are not touching it and are rincing it with Bactine and dabbing a bit of polysporine on it. Do not put a bandaid on it as it will not be able to breath.
