I moved in with him after about a month. He asked me, partly because we had gotten along and fallen so hard so fast, and partly because my crazy ex had broken into my apartment in the middle of the night when my *now* fiancee was there. So partially for my safety.
We had been dating for 15 months when he proposed.
We will be getting married exactly 2 years after getting engaged.
So, we will have been together for 3 yrs. 3 months when we get married.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, I knew he was the one after just a few months. Good luck!

we have been married 34 year. We dated 6 months before our engagement. However I think this is much too short. I think it takes a good two years to really know if you can commit to this person and have a successful marraige. You didnt say how old you were. I would not recommend teen marriages.26-28 is a good age to get married. Usually by that time you are established in a career and know what you want out of a relationship.

I am not sure what the average is but I know that most of my friends date a year or so before getting engaged. I've been dating the same guy for 6 years so I guess it depends on the couple involved.

Well I am not certain this will help you, but my bride to be and I dated for about 9 months before I moved in with her. I asked her to marry me several times during the course of the next three years, and eventually she consented and rings were exchanged perhaps two years into that period. A year later we were married. She was not easy to run to ground. Still, it seems to have worked out, as we have now been married for 31 years.

6 years. I've now been married for 11 years and going strong. The longer you go out with each other the more you know if engagement/marrage is right or not.

My wife and I dated for a little over a year. I think this is an appropiate time before you get engaged.
