... and he says he's "legally married" what does that mean?

I am happily engaged, but wanted to find out for a friend if he is available -- she really digs him. He has a tanline on his wedding finger that could to be from a ring.

I just thought it was an odd response to say, "I'm legally married."

From what I gather it means he is bound by law in a marriage but his heart is not in it. Maybe he is seperated and not sure yet if it is going to work out or he is contemplating/going through a divorce and it is not yet finalized.

He means that he is legally married but for some reason is not happy in the marriage. Be wary of this guy, he probably has a wonderful wife and is out looking for someone new to take as a conquest...

The comment means he could be separated from his spouse but is still legally married by law so bottom line is: he's still married.

He said "Legally Married" because....He Is Married!....He just wants a little on the side. Be a real friend and tell her not to get involved with a MARRIED man....she will only get hurt...unless.. she is just wanting sex too....but it is still not right to date a married man. Take Care!

He may be separated but not yet divorced--hence still "legally married" but no longer together with his wife in the sense of a relationship.

What he meant is "he is officially in black and white (in paper) - married". Some Asians feel they are married only when they have gone through customary (traditional marriage) and officially through the government.

It could mean that he is seperated, it could mean that he is married looking to cheat, and it could mean he is an idiot who has no clue how to respond to a simple question....

In any case your friend is better off running for the hills screaming like a banshi... A guy like this isn't looking for a relationship he is looking for a fling...

hmmm. I think that is odd as well. But, he may be worth more questions. Perhaps in a complicated divorce situation and trying to be truthful but not give details? I would ask him, but be suspicious!
