i don't know how to play foot ball?

well you have come to the right place
first you have to kick it off the other team receives and they have to get the in the endzone when you get in it is a touchdown you get 7 pts and then you have to kick the ball in from the two yard line to get and extra point.
now going back when you return the ball and you get tackled.from that spot you have four downs to get 10 yds. if you make the chain goes on if you dont get the first down on fourth down you have a choice to punt which is to kick the ball away from the spot to the oppsing team or you could kick a feild goal and make it in the two uprights or you can go for it by making the first down if you dont get it the other team gets the ball .
when you are on defense you have to defend against the offense and you cant let the team get a first down it is almost like offense but you have to defend
so in football there can also be penalties on offense and defense
in offense you could throw or eithere run if you lose the ball and the other team gets it they get the ball it does not matter if it is 1st or 4th down the other team gets
when on offense when you throw it and the other teams player catches the ball that can also mean the other team gets the ball

There's a lot to know. You have four plays ("downs") to advance the ball 10 yards. That will result in a "first down", or a "fresh set of downs".
Beyond that, go find yourself a game in a park somewhere and ask if you can join in so you can learn more about the game. If they're cool, they should be able to find a spot for you.
