I know the most common answer will be "to follow them", but i need more specific answers, like "because teachers want the kids to learn".

When delivering a lesson, in order to see if the students 'get it', the teacher gives guided practice and then independent practice. In order to give the students their independent assignment, the teacher needs to provide directions and check for understanding. If the students don't know what the expectations are, the teacher cannot fairly grade the students.

It teaches you to comprehend, understand, and be able to follow through on them in a correct way. You will find out that throughout your entire life this is a skill that will be needed. If it is learned well, it will serve you well. You will need to listen, remember the directions, and then carry them out as specified.

Simple teachers give directions so students know what they are doing or need to do.
