Mainz is the last city in Germany where my hubby and I stayed for our honeymoon this past June. It was during the World Cup so we were lucky to get one of The Last rooms in town. It is a small to medium sized city that is very close to Frankfurt and Wiesbaden ... and those cities all seem to run together at times. It is along the Rhein River, so if you drive about 10 minutes out of Mainz across the bridge, then you can drive along the river Rhein and explore the vineyards. A new castle appears on the countryside with every turn of the road. The city of Mainz is not what people think of when the think of Bavarian-style Germany. Here, the people are unique and rockin'. The cuisine is a nice mix of international fare with a taste of Germany thrown in. Love it!
