Make flashcards, draw the phase of the moon on one side and write the phase on the other. If your not a flaskcard person or in addition to them, associate the phases to something you know.
You could also study this diagram: http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/astronomy/mimg90.gif , one way might be to cut them out and mix them up and cover the name and see if you can guess it. Or you could use this diagram and fill in the phases yourself, and test yourself: http://www.wcer.wisc.edu/ncisla/muse/earth-moon-sun/materials/build/material2D/activities/8phases.gif

Well, a "full" moon should be easy to remember!..full, waning, new, and waxing. Full, half, quarter, new, quarter, half, full. Make an association with the phases, like "waning" refers to "waning away" or withering, disappearing, getting thiner. Think!
Think about how the phases occur -- where is the Moon in relation to the Earth, as the phases show -- what causes the phases? To know how they occur, will help you remember the phases!
