Could be kilowatt hours, but we produce more like 3.5 trillion kWh.

Yeah... What exactly are you trying to ask - or point out?
We're the only superpower on the face of the earth - and the most advanced country in the world. I'd imagine we DO... consume the most energy of anyone in the world.
I feel that the problem is.. with foreign oil. We need to cut that dependancy off. We should (should have) researched alternative fuels long ago - but politicians in Washington didn't see a damn problem. That's the real issue... They don't do anything up there, until it's too late and all hell's breaking loose. We would not have to be so concerned about the matter of "oil" around the world if we had cut our dependancy of it. You see, we're living in the past. Really, you know... a lot of the "oil" wars you see today, were spawned from Cold War era days. I mean, both sides... knew that the other side lived off of oil - and they tried to control it.
The Cold War hasn't ended - it's only evolved. We won a major victory though - President Reagan was a great president, and he helped to end the "First Phase." I respect him greatly - he was a true patriot of the United States of America.
But... there is a sad second phase... it is coming - it is rising... I'm not so much talking about the matter of "nuclear power vs. nuclear power," but rather wars faught elsewhere - and by other peoples and other governments. Powerplays... used by modern day Western governments: this is how our "wise" leaders fight today. It's spies - lies - killing. What goes on in the shadows is nothing fun, and I can tell you that first hand.
It's a dangerous world out there. And, well... my main point is, we should get off of foreign oil - and produce our own ethanol. We need to mass produce it, and sell it in vast quantities across the Americas - Africa - and even to Western Europe - and Eastern Europe.
This would ultimately break a lot of the dependancy these Eastern European nations have on Russia, and her oil. It would... make them OUR friends.
But you see, Russia - Putin - understands this. Russia's frigid climate however isn't the best place to grow corn and to produce it in mass. But, you see they are aiding China - as China embarks on major factories to help produce ethanol and other alternative fuels. They are trying to beat us - the United States - to the chase. The next great "war" of the world... will be one focused around ethanol. And if we do not capitalize on it, FIRST... our "not so good" friends will profit - and gain might. More and more might.
Furthermore, Russia has about 25 percent of the worlds natural gas. Putin has made a lot of personal effort/investments into big Russian oil companies. He... is a smart man. Do I like him? He's a great guy - but... the policies... he's making questionable moves.
It's not that we love war here - it's the tough fact of being a superpower - the most influential nation on earth. Again - the "war" as I'm talking about is a war of diplomacy - and the real fighting will probably never take place between Russia - China - The United States. all parties understand that a war like this would be completely devestating. So, they use other... smaller... weaker governments to fight their wars.
These games are so deadly - so... calculative... so... complicated... My God, it's horrible. But, I want you to open up your mind to... a greater expanse... This is not ONLY... Iraq... This... is the entire world - and the future of the world - the balance of power.
And hey, we should all thank God we produce that much oil/energy. That means we have... an incredible infrastructure with all of the energy we can produce - we have the best nation... on earth.

Divide your two figures by the respective populations. 300 million people in the US and 1.2 billion in China. You get about 8000 per person for the States and 300 per person for China. So we must be talking about...
