Because people have them put up on a pedestal having seen them as great people because of the character they portray.
I feel people should not spend so much time watching TV and take time to look at themselves and realise that they are all stars in their own right.... Heck, we don't all go out till all hours hoping to get our pics in the papers and making fools of ourselves... we have special people to spend our lives with.
Indeed, I am not talking about all the celebs, some are very good at getting the balance right.

Maybe not all of us get star struck, but there is an interesting feeling you get when you see them in person unlike seeing them on a movie screen or TV.

I have that problem all the time. People are always giddy when they are around me. It's annoying. STOP IT!!!.

No clue. I have no idea how celebrities came into existance, and I really don't want to know.
Maybe they just really like them?
